"Unspeakable", the second full length and fifth release by Third Island, is themed around a selection of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft, with each song lyrically following a different story. Musically more organic than previous releases - being written and recorded with a live focus - it uses the doomy post-metal of earlier material as a template and explores more stripped back and melodic passages on top, taking a more refined approach to the style without compensating their usual oppressive heft.
